Wingate Companies’ Back-to-School Community Resource Fair brought nearly 200 families from Trestletree Village and the surrounding Atlanta community together at The Vision Cathedral of Atlanta on Saturday, July 11.

The event helped families prepare for the upcoming school year while connecting residents with valuable services and community resources. Families received backpacks filled with school supplies, meals, baby supplies, free haircuts, health screenings, immunizations and school and sports physicals.

Children also enjoyed activities throughout the afternoon, including a virtual reality game truck, a visit from the local fire department and an appearance by community favorite Agent Ask.

The fair was made possible through support from Celebs Give Back, PNC Bank, WIC, healthcare providers, professional barbers, volunteers and local businesses. Their participation demonstrated the value of community partnerships in meeting immediate needs and building stronger relationships with residents.

The event also took place during ongoing conversations about Wingate’s proposed redevelopment of Trestletree Village into a modern mixed-income community while preserving affordable housing opportunities for current residents.

During the fair, Wingate Executive Tanya Weeks emphasized the importance of showing up, listening and investing in people. That message carries added meaning as residents continue seeking information and reassurance about what redevelopment could mean for their families.

As conversations about the future of Trestletree Village continue, the resource fair offered families meaningful support and a valuable opportunity for community engagement. Moving forward, transparency, consistent communication and meaningful resident participation will remain essential.
