The Atlanta Gladiators are gearing up to return to the ice, kicking off a brand-new season on Saturday, October 18th at Gas South Arena. Puck drops at 7:10 PM EDT, when the Glads face off against the Utah Grizzlies — and it’s shaping up to be an exciting start to the season.
We had the opportunity to attend training camp media day, camera in hand, capturing moments behind the scenes and listening in as two key players shared their thoughts ahead of opening night.
Cody Sylvester, who’s been passionate about hockey since he was a kid, said nothing compares to being out on the ice — and that passion truly shows. He expects the Gladiators to be a high-scoring, physical team this year, and while his leadership style hasn’t changed much, the focus remains on working together and competing at the highest level.
Anthony Firriolo (#12, defense) talked about the mix of new talent and returning players and how important it is to build strong chemistry early. He emphasized getting everyone on the same page with the system and foundation first — beyond just playing the game. After a tough season last year that ended just shy of the playoffs, he said there’s a real determination in the locker room to play hard and push further this time.
Fans, us included, can’t wait to get back and feel that energy again. We are looking forward to telling the story of this season through the lens, capturing the grit, speed, and excitement of Gladiators hockey all season long.
