A Day of Wellness, Joy, and Community Connection

The Free Women’s Health and Wellness Fair, hosted by Penelope’s Pearls of Wisdom, was an inspiring and impactful gathering held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Lou Walker Senior Center in Lithonia, Georgia. From 10 AM to 4 PM, the space was filled with energy, purpose, and community as women and families came together to prioritize health, wellness, and empowerment. Rooted in faith and fellowship, the event reflected the organization’s mission to uplift communities through service, education, and connection.

Attendees were welcomed into a vibrant environment offering free health screenings, mental health awareness resources, job assistance through DeKalb WorkSource, and support services for veterans. Local government departments were also present, providing valuable information and voter registration opportunities. Marketplace vendors and food trucks added to the lively atmosphere, while the free shopping giveaway and raffles brought excitement and smiles throughout the day.

The event truly came alive through its engaging activities and entertainment, including the high energy Line Dancing with Bam Bam, the nostalgic joy of the 40+ Double Dutch Club, and the fun and fitness of Zumba with 4 Every Generation. My granddaughter and I had such an amazing time. She quickly found her rhythm during line dancing and, with a little courage, stepped into the ropes with the Double Dutch group. Their kindness and patience made all the difference, guiding her from a complete novice to a confident beginner in no time. She was all smiles, beaming with pride after each jump.

After an active afternoon, my granddaughter and a newfound friend enjoyed watching others participate in Zumba while taking in the lively atmosphere. Live music by Pleasant Sounds created the perfect background as attendees visited vendors and enjoyed delicious bites from the food trucks, bringing people together in celebration, movement, and shared joy. Overall, the Women’s Health and Wellness Fair was more than just an event. It was a powerful experience of unity, empowerment, and outreach, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended.
